ASSOCIATION OF PROFESSIONAL RESEARCHERS FOR ADVANCEMENT

About Us

 

APRA-IL (APRA-Illinois) is a regional organization whose mission is to advance the goals and interests of persons working, or interested, in prospect research. These goals include professional development, continuing education, information sharing, and the advocacy of the prospect research profession.  These goals are carried out through regular programs & business meetings, as well as by facilitating information networking among chapter members and others in the area.

 

APRA-IL MISSION - To serve and educate fundraising professionals interested in advancement research and to promote the profession of advancement research.

 

APRA-IL MEMBERSHIP & GOVERNANCE - APRA-IL has about 100 members throughout Illinois and is one of 29 chapters in the United States and Canada governed by APRA International, the premier international organization for fund raisers who specialize in research and information management. APRA International presents an annual conference that provides educational and networking opportunities for prospect researchers worldwide.  APRA members adhere to a statement of ethics that guides how they gather and handle information.  APRA has also established skill sets that inform members about skills expected of basic and advanced researchers. APRA-IL HISTORY - Soon after APRA International was established in 1988, the Prospect Research Discussion Group began meeting in Chicago. Later this group evolved into the Chicago Area chapter in 1991, and APRA-MIC, which was known as Mid-State Illinois Chapter, began meeting in 1989.  The APRA-IL chapter in its current form was established in 1996.
